Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ClassLink LLC ("Classlink", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Classlink applications (Android, iOS, desktop, and web) and the website at classl.ink (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by ClassLink LLC, 29 Tokombaev st., Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. For any privacy question or request, contact us at help@classl.ink.

2. Information we collect

Account information

  • Sign in with Google: when you sign in, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

  • Administrator accounts: for staff/admin access we store an email address and a securely hashed password.

  • Display name you enter when joining a class.

Class (meeting) content and real-time media

  • Audio, video, and screen sharing: when you join a class, your camera, microphone, and (if you choose) screen are streamed in real time to other participants through our media servers. This live media is transmitted to deliver the class and is not recorded or stored unless a host explicitly starts a recording (see "Recordings").

  • Meeting metadata: class codes, who joined and when, host/participant roles, raise-hand and similar in-class signals.

  • Chat or shared materials, if you use those features.

Technical and usage data

  • Device and connection information (IP address, app version, operating system, browser type) and diagnostic logs used to operate and secure the Service.

  • Local storage on your device (e.g. session tokens) to keep you signed in.

3. Camera, microphone, and screen permissions

Classlink requests access to your camera and microphone solely to let you participate in live classes, and to your screen only when you start screen sharing. These streams are used in real time and are not stored unless a recording is started. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings; the Service will continue to work with reduced functionality.

4. How we use your information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and live classes.

  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure.

  • Connect participants and route audio/video/screen between them.

  • Prevent abuse, troubleshoot, and ensure reliability and safety.

  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use class audio or video for advertising.

5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), based on our legitimate interests (security, improvement), to comply with the law, and—where required—based on your consent (e.g. recordings).

6. How we share information

We share information only with:

  • Other class participants — your name and live media are visible to others in the same class.

  • Service providers that host and run the Service on our behalf, principally Google Cloud Platform (hosting, database, storage) and Google Sign-In (authentication). These providers process data under contract and only on our instructions.

  • Legal/safety — when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

7. Recordings

A host may record a class. Recordings are stored securely on Google Cloud Storage and are accessible only to authorized users of the relevant organization. Where required, participants are notified and/or asked to consent before recording begins. Recordings are retained for 60 days and then deleted.

8. Data retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. Meeting metadata is retained for 60 days. Live media is not retained. Recordings, if any, follow the schedule above. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep it to meet legal obligations.

9. Data deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing help@classl.ink. We will verify your request and complete deletion within 30 days.

10. Data security

We use encryption in transit (TLS, and SRTP/DTLS for media), access controls, hashed credentials, and infrastructure hosted on Google Cloud. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

11. Where your data is processed

The Service is hosted in the European Union (Google Cloud, europe-west3 / Frankfurt). If you access the Service from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the EU and other countries where our providers operate, with appropriate safeguards.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact help@classl.ink. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

13. Children's privacy

Classlink is an education service that may be used by students. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 without appropriate consent from a parent, guardian, or the educational institution acting on their behalf. Where Classlink is provided through a school or organization, that institution is responsible for obtaining any required consents. If you believe a child has provided us personal data without proper consent, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the Service.
